Hyundai and Indian Oil: Together we will create a green future

Under this agreement, Hyundai has given its most modern hydrogen car, NEXO, to Indian Oil. This car will be driven on different roads and weathers of India for the next two years. It will be trialed for about 40,000 kilometers.

In this trial, it will be seen how durable hydrogen cars are in India, how reliable they work and how economical they are to run. Along with this, it will also be found out how much it costs to run and maintain these cars.

What is Hyundai Nexo?

Hyundai Nexo is a great car that runs on hydrogen and not petrol or diesel and emits no smoke at all. It has a 95 kW hydrogen fuel cell system and a 40 kW battery. Both together give a power of about 183 horsepower and a torque of 395 Newton meters. This car can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 9.2 seconds. Once filled with hydrogen, it can run for about 666 kilometers and it can be refilled in less than 5 minutes.

Nexo is built on a platform specially designed for hydrogen cars. It also has many modern features, such as driver assistance systems (ADAS), wind-cutting design and a spacious and technology-rich cabin inside. It is one of the best and most environmentally friendly SUVs of its kind.

Big statements from companies

Managing Director, Hyundai Motor India Ltd., Mr. Unsoo Kim said that his company is always working on new technologies to advance smart mobility in India. In collaboration with Indian Oil, they want to combine hydrogen fuel cell technology with India’s expertise. They believe that hydrogen can become a major source of energy in the future and it is their responsibility to make it affordable and sustainable.

Director (R&D), Indian Oil, Dr. Alok Sharma said that his company is helping the Government of India to fulfill its dream of energy security and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. They believe that hydrogen fuel is an important part of India’s path to clean energy and fuel cell technology has great potential to reduce carbon emissions. This collaboration with Hyundai will help them understand fuel cell technology in depth and realize the dream of green mobility.
