Honda has recently launched its two new electric scooters Honda Activa E and QC1. These scooters are currently available only in select cities. In February and March 2025, Honda made a total of 6,432 scooters, but only 2,662 scooters were sold. That is, 3,770 scooters are yet to be sold. Still, this is Honda’s first step in the electric scooter market, and the company is slowly taking it to more cities.

Where are these scooters available?

  • Activa E: Initially available only in Bengaluru, now bookings have started in Mumbai and Delhi as well.
  • QC1: It is available in Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Delhi and Chandigarh.

How many scooters were made and sold?

  • February 2025: 1,862 scooters made, sent to 560 dealers.
  • March 2025: 4,570 scooters made, 2,102 sent to dealers.

These scooters are made at Honda’s Narasapura plant (Karnataka).

Battery and charging

  • Activa e: It has a battery replacement facility. You can remove the old battery and put a new one in. There are more than 80 battery-swapping stations in Bengaluru. Honda plans to build 250 stations by 2026, so that there is a station every 5 km. Stations are also being built in Delhi and Mumbai. Customers will have to pay every time the battery is replaced.
  • QC1: The battery in it is fixed, that is, it cannot be removed.

Challenges in the market

Sales of Honda scooters are slow right now because they are available only in a few cities and there are fewer battery-swapping stations. But the same happened when the TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak were launched. Their sales were also slow initially, but later increased. Honda will also take time.

Future expectations

Honda is planning to launch its scooters in more cities. As the number of battery-swapping stations increases, sales may also increase. Honda’s name and trust may attract customers. These scooters are also good for the environment.

Conclusion

Sales of Honda Activa E and QC1 are low right now, but this is the beginning. 2,662 scooters sold is not bad, as they are in only a few cities right now. As Honda expands its network, these scooters can make their place in the market.
