JSW MG Motor India has announced the launch of a new variant of its popular electric car Windsor EV. The new model is named MG Windsor Pro and will be introduced on May 6, 2025. This car will come with long range, new features, improved safety and attractive design. MG Windsor Pro: What is special?
The biggest change in the MG Windsor Pro will be its battery. The current Windsor EV has a 38 kWh battery, which gives a range of 332 km on a single charge. But the Windsor Pro will be given a larger battery of 50.6 kWh, which can give a range of up to 460 km on a single charge. This battery is taken from the Wuling Cloud EV sold in China, which is the basis of the Windsor. Its electric motor produces 136 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque, which will remain the same as before.
MG Windsor Pro New Features and Safety
Many new features have been added to the Windsor Pro. It will have Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which will include features like Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control. Apart from this, the car will also get features like a large 15.6-inch touchscreen, 6-way power adjustable driver seat, comfortable rear seats with 135 degree reclining, 9-speaker audio system, connected car technology and ambient lighting. Black leather upholstery, faux wood trim and copper accents will be given to make the interior more premium.
MG Windsor Pro Price and Sales
The current price of MG Windsor EV is between Rs 14 lakh and Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom). The price of Windsor Pro can be Rs 1-2 lakh more than this, that is, it can be between Rs 16-18 lakh. The company will also offer this car with a battery-as-a-service (BaaS) model, in which customers can rent the battery separately. In this model, the starting price of the car is Rs 9.99 lakh and the cost per kilometer is Rs 3.9. MG Windsor has set a big record by selling 20,000 units in India in 6 months and this car is selling more than Tata Nexon EV every month.
MG’s new plans
MG Motor India is strengthening its position through its new ‘MG Select’ premium retail network. The company is soon going to launch two new cars – MG Cyberster, which will be a two-door electric sports car, and MG M9, which will be a luxury electric MPV. Apart from this, MG Majestor will be launched by the end of the year, which will be a premium version of Gloster.
MG Windsor Pro will be a great option for those who want an electric car with long range and modern features. This car will give a tough competition to Tata Curve EV and Mahindra XUV400 EV.
