Your familiar scooter can now run without petrol. The work of converting these scooters to electric has started:
- Hero’s Maestro
- Hero’s Pleasure
- Honda’s Activa
- Honda’s Aviator
- Honda’s Dio
- Honda’s Cliq
- Suzuki’s Access
- Suzuki’s Swish
- TVS’s Jupiter
- TVS’s Wego

This work is being done jointly by Indofast Energy (started by Indian Oil and Sun Mobility) and Green Tiger Mobility. There are more than 30 crore petrol scooters in our country. This new method is very good for those who do not want to buy a new electric scooter.
How will your old scooter become electric:
It is very easy to convert it. Take your scooter to the company’s center. There the mechanic will remove the petrol engine and install Green Tiger’s electric kit. This kit is approved by the government. There is also a facility to install a battery in it, which you can replace at more than 900 stations of Indofast. These stations are already built for e-rickshaws and delivery vehicles.
In this work, the papers of the scooter, insurance, everything will be done. Its cost starts from about ₹ 10,000. You can also pay it in installments. For many people, the installments will be easily paid from the saved cost of petrol.
It is cheaper to run an electric scooter than a petrol one:
New electric scooters are very expensive, around ₹ 1.2 lakh to ₹ 1.5 lakh. Not many people have that much money. But converting your old scooter to electric is very cheap. You can save up to ₹ 80,000 on petrol in a year. So it is a profitable deal.
Apart from this, converting an old scooter to electric also reduces waste and also keeps the air clean as it does not emit smoke.
Started in Bangalore, now it is Delhi NCR’s turn:
This work started first in Bangalore. More than 500 scooters have been converted to electric scooters. Most of these are scooters used by delivery people. These people ride scooters a lot every day, so they will benefit the most and the city’s air will also remain clean.
Now this work will start in Delhi NCR from May. Gradually this facility will be available in the whole of India in the next 12 to 15 months. Many people are attached to their old scooters, so this is an opportunity for them to make their scooter better instead of replacing it.
Full focus on safety and performance:
Green Tiger’s electric kit is very good. For this, they have taken six patents and institutes like ARAI and IIM Bangalore have also given it a good rating. The company has tested these kits a lot so that even after converting to electric, the scooter feels like a petrol scooter – speed and control will remain the same.
These kits have been made keeping in mind the needs of the Indian roads and people. Even after switching to electric, you will not have any problem in your daily work.
