Isuzu’s powerful pickup will now run on electricity
Isuzu D-Max EV will be available in two types of bodies – Double Cab (which has seats in two rows) and Extended Cab (slightly larger). It looks exactly like the diesel Isuzu D-Max. Its structure has been strengthened a bit due to the installation of battery and the rear suspension has also been changed so that it runs better.
Powerful power and 4×4 capability
This electric D-Max has two motors, due to which it always sends power to all four wheels (4×4). The rear motor produces 130 horsepower and 217 Nm of torque, and the front motor produces 58 horsepower and 108 Nm of torque. In total, it gets 188 horsepower and 325 Nm of torque. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 10.1 seconds and its top speed is more than 130 kmph.
Battery and charging
It has a 66.9 kWh battery, which can be charged up to 50 kW only. If you charge it with a 50 kW DC charger, it will charge from 20% to 80% in one hour. It will take ten hours to charge from 0 to 100% with an AC charger. Once fully charged, it can run for about 263 kilometers.
Not much change in appearance
The Isuzu D-Max EV is not much different from the diesel model in appearance. The only difference is the blue lines on the front grille and headlights, and the “EV” badge on the front panel and rear. Inside, it is almost identical, although the meter and infotainment system may have some different functions for electric vehicles.
First in Europe, India’s wait longer
Isuzu is currently manufacturing the left-hand drive version of the D-Max EV and will start shipping it to some European countries in the third quarter of this year. Production of the right-hand drive version will begin later this year and deliveries will begin from March 2026. The company has no plans to bring this electric pickup truck to India.
