With 91,791 electric scooters, bikes and mopeds sold, April 2025 recorded a 40% year-on-year growth, the best ever for the first month of a financial year. TVS Motor Company topped the list for the first time with sales of 19,736 units, narrowly ahead of Ola Electric and Bajaj Auto who also sold over 19,000 units.
After recording record sales of 11.49 lakh units in FY2025 and a 21% year-on-year growth, electric two-wheeler (E2W) makers in India recorded impressive sales of 91,791 units in April 2025, up 40% over April 2024 (65,555 units) last year. This makes April 2025 the most successful April ever for E2W, surpassing even April 2023 (66,878 units). The data is available on the Vahan portal (1 May 2025, 7 am).
According to Vahan data, TVS topped monthly sales for the first time by selling 19,736 units, only 27 units more than Ola Electric (19,709 units). However, April sales were 30% lower than March 2025 (1,31,163 units), as March is the last month of the financial year, in which sales are usually high.

In previous years, April sales have been normal, followed by a slowdown in the monsoon months, and a pick-up during the festive season in September-October. But FY2026 has started strong for the E2W industry, laying the foundation for another great financial year.
Maharashtra’s new Electric Vehicle Policy 2025 has given a further boost to the industry. In FY2025, Maharashtra topped the list with 2,11,880 units with an 18% share in E2W sales. In April 2025, the top 10 E2W manufacturers sold 86,587 units (93%), with the top 4 contributing 71,613 units (78%). Let’s take a look at the performance of the top six manufacturers.
1) TVS Motor Company
- April 2025: 19,736 units, 154% YoY growth
- Market share: 22% (12% in April 2024)
- Details: TVS topped monthly sales for the first time with the iQube scooter. 1,534 units were sold on Akshaya Tritiya (30 April), the highest among the top four. TVS sold 2,37,576 iQube in FY2025, the first year to cross the 2 lakh mark. The company is further expanding the 950 dealer network and planning new EV launches.
2) Ola Electric
- April 2025: 19,709 units, 42% YoY decline
- Market share: 21% (52% in April 2024)
- Details: Ola had taken the lead with 4,294 units at the start of the month, but fell behind TVS by only 27 units. The ‘72-Hour Electric Rush’ offer on Akshaya Tritiya offered discounts of up to Rs 40,000. Ola maintained the top spot with 30% market share by selling 3,44,009 units in FY2025. The company is now focusing on the S1 Gen 3 scooter and electric motorcycles.
3) Bajaj Auto
- April 2025: 19,001 units, 151% YoY growth
- Market share: 21% (11% in April 2024)
- Details: Bajaj, which topped in February and March 2025, slipped to third spot. 1,258 units sold on Akshaya Tritiya in April. New Chetak 3503 (Rs 1,10,000) launch boosted sales. Achieved 20% market share with 2,30,808 units sold in FY2025.
4) Hero MotoCorp
- April 2025: 6,123 units, 540% YoY growth
- Market share: 7% (1.4% in April 2024)
- Details: Vida V2 (launched in December 2024) drove sales. V2 Lite (Rs 96,000) is the most affordable model. Hero’s network reaches 203 touchpoints in 116 cities. 48,673 units sold in FY2025, a growth of 175%.
5) Greaves Electric Mobility
- April 2025: 4,000 units, 59% YoY growth
- Market share: 4% (4% in April 2024)
- Details: Ampere Nexus (launched in April 2024) drove sales. There is a portfolio of six models, with Nexus (Rs 1,10,000) leading the pack. 40,161 units were sold in FY2025, a growth of 28%.
