Another step towards affordable electric mobility: Bajaj introduces most affordable variant of its popular Chetak 3503
Strengthening its hold in India’s electric scooter market, Bajaj Auto has launched the most affordable model of its latest Chetak 35 series – the Chetak 3503. This new electric scooter will be available at a starting price of ₹ 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
To recall, Bajaj introduced the all-new Chetak 35 series in the Indian market in December 2024. Based on a new platform, this electric scooter line-up consisted of three variants: 3501, 3502 and 3503. However, only the prices of the top-end 3501 and the mid-spec 3502 were revealed at the time of launch. Now, the company has also announced the price of the entry-level 3503 variant, which makes it around ₹ 20,000 cheaper than the range-topping Chetak 3501. The Chetak 3501 is priced at ₹ 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom) and the 3502 is priced at ₹ 1.22 lakh (ex-showroom).
Combination of important features at an affordable price
Being affordable, the new Chetak 3503 will miss out on some features and equipment compared to the other variants. However, it still offers several important features, including a colour LCD instrument console, hill hold assist, smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth, music controls, call management, and more. Apart from this, this base-spec Chetak also gets ride modes (Eco and Sports) and LED headlights.
Some premium features compromised, but Chetak’s identity remains intact
The features that have been removed from this affordable variant include the front disc brake and touchscreen instrument cluster. On the other hand, being a part of the new 35 series, this new electric scooter gets 35 liters of under-seat storage and the iconic metal body of the Chetak.
Powertrain and performance: Affordable but capable
Talking about the powertrain, the new Bajaj Chetak 3503 gets the same familiar 3.5 kWh battery pack, which is also found in the 3501 and 3502 variants. However, to differentiate it from the other two variants, the 3503 gets slightly lower performance figures and its top speed is limited to 63 kmph. One positive aspect is that its claimed range is slightly better, which is up to 155 kilometers on a single charge.
Available colours and competition
The Bajaj Chetak 3503 will be available in four attractive colours: Indigo Blue, Brooklyn Black, Cyber White and Matte Grey. It will compete with affordable electric scooters like the Ola S1X+, Ather Rizta S and TVS iQube 3.4 kWh in the Indian market. Bookings for the new Chetak 3503 have already started and deliveries are expected to begin from the first week of May.
This new affordable electric scooter is expected to attract customers who are looking for a reliable and stylish electric scooter but have a limited budget. The strong branding and metal body of the Bajaj Chetak make it a strong contender in the market. Now it will be interesting to see how this new variant performs in the market and how it affects the competition in the affordable electric scooter segment.
