Ola’s showrooms were running without license

Ever since the trend of electric vehicles has increased in the country, companies like Ola Electric were growing rapidly. But now the Maharashtra government has taken strict action against them. The state transport department has found that more than 100 showrooms of Ola Electric were running without the necessary license.

According to a report, out of 131 showrooms, 107 were not following the rules during the investigation. The government has sent notices to 104 showrooms and 43 showrooms have already been closed. Apart from this, 214 electric scooters have also been seized. This action was taken because these showrooms did not have a “trade certificate”. This certificate is required to sell vehicles in India or to show them for test drives.

Why is a trade certificate necessary?

In simple words, a trade certificate is a permission given by the government. It allows the showroom to sell vehicles and give people a test drive. If a showroom does not have this certificate, then it cannot sell or show vehicles. Doing so is against the law.

What action did the government take?

A senior official of the Transport Department of Maharashtra has ordered all RTO officials to close the login ID of all such showrooms within 24 hours. Also, information about the action taken so far should be sent to the government and the latest status of the showrooms violating the rules should be told.

What will be the impact on Ola Electric?

This action is taking place at a time when Ola Electric is trying to expand its business across the country. Maharashtra is a big market for electric vehicles. This kind of trouble can have a bad effect on both the company’s sales and its image.
